Portland, Oregon–based baker who believes food should be joyful, simple, and shareable—every recipe builds connection.
My Story
Baking has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a small town, the kitchen was where we gathered, laughed, and made sense of the world—especially when cake was in the oven. My grandmother’s lemon pound cake was more than dessert; it was a family tradition, a celebration, and sometimes even a comfort in hard times.
Over the years, life got busier. Between raising two kids, managing work, and keeping a semblance of order at home, I leaned on quick, reliable recipes that still had that homemade magic. I realized other parents were craving the same thing—something warm, approachable, and delicious without requiring a culinary degree. Golden Bite Recipes was born: to help busy families bake with joy, not stress.
The Turning Point
A few years ago, I hit a wall. I was juggling school drop-offs, work deadlines, and endless to-do lists when my youngest asked, “Mom, can we bake something today?” I almost said no, but then I saw the look in her eyes—she didn’t just want cake; she wanted time together.
We spent that afternoon making a simple vanilla sponge. Flour dusted our clothes, the kitchen was a mess, and we laughed until our cheeks hurt. That moment was my reminder: baking wasn’t another chore; it was a connection in its sweetest form. From then on, I promised myself and others that home baking could be practical and full of heart.
What I Learned the Hard Way
I used to believe that “from scratch” meant complicated, time-consuming, and perfect. I chased the flawless layer cake, only to end up stressed and with too many dirty bowls.
The truth? Perfection isn’t the goal—connection is. I learned that a slightly uneven cake still tastes incredible when made with care, and kids don’t remember if your buttercream was silky smooth—they remember licking the spoon.
My Approach Now
Today, my baking philosophy is about simplicity, adaptability, and joy. I design recipes that fit into real life, using pantry staples and techniques that even a beginner can master. I love sharing shortcuts that don’t compromise flavor—like freezing cake layers ahead of a party or using one base batter for three different desserts.
Most importantly, I want every recipe to feel doable and welcoming. Baking should never be intimidating; it should be your excuse to gather, slow down, and create something worth sharing.
What I Believe
- Baking should fit into your life, not take it over.
- Imperfect cakes often have the best stories.
- Kids in the kitchen learn more than just recipes—they learn connection.
- A well-loved recipe card is better than any polished cookbook photo.
- Sharing food is an act of love.

A Little More About Me
Outside baking, I’m happiest in a cozy café with a cappuccino and a vintage cookbook. I love weekend farmers’ markets, board games with my kids, and the smell of fresh lilacs in spring. My kitchen playlist swings from classic jazz to 90s pop, depending on whether I’m frosting a cake or testing muffins.
